On November 8th, 2006, the city of San Francisco passed draconian gun restrictions in defiance of state law and against the recommendation of local law enforcement and media organizations. One group contributed greatly to the education of these local organizations and the lessening of support for the gun ban. The tireless efforts of the hard-working volunteers of the Golden Gate NRA Members' Council must be recognized. When it comes to loyalty, integrity and dedication to the principles of the National Rifle Association, the Golden Gate NRA Members' Council provides an example we can all be proud of. When booths must be manned, doorbells must be rung and phone calls must be made, these never-say-die patriots stand tall to the challenge. Thanks also to the state-wide volunteers of the California NRA Members' Council network, who provided eager support when possible. You form the backbone that defends gun-rights in the Golden State - never, ever give up!
Fairfax, VA - Even with opposition from San Francisco law enforcement and major media outlets, Proposition H -- a
measure banning the lawful possession, sale and manufacture of handguns and ammunition within city limits -- passed
yesterday. The National Rifle Association (NRA) today filed a lawsuit challenging this severe gun ban.
