La Pierre and Project Boresnake Organizer

Jim Kochheiser at an NRA Member's Council

                                              Regional Meeting, July 26, 2008.

To All,

When you need to keep the big guns clean, one has to call out The Big Guns:

The Real Grassroots:

It can probably be said that the most heartfelt application of the old adage, " Cleanliness Is Next To Godliness" is when a soldier's platoon sergeant is speaking about personal weapons care to the troops under his command.

But for those who have never had the pleasure of cleaning the various crevices of an AR-15, or such service-issue brethren as the M-16A2 and M-4, suffice it to say that one normally needs a dump-truck load of pipe cleaners and patches to keep up with the demands of field deployment.

That is, unless one has a Boresnake from Hoppe's at their disposal.

Unfortunately, the Hoppe's Boresnake has not yet made it's way officially into the military supply system. No matter, concerned parents and a cadre of dedicated volunteers have banded together in a well-organized private effort to equip as many troops as possible with tools that can literally mean the difference between life and death.

As far as the cadre of volunteers goes, the credit goes to Jim Kochheiser, his wife Judy (who sorts, boxes, and ships pretty much all of the "Snake Kits"), his daughter Karen, and Mike Haas who is solely responsible for setting up the Internet Website/Interface that enables the public to contribute to a project that delivers 100% of donations to products shipped to the troops.

While it has been most satisfying in the past to partake of the lobbying process, or work for political candidates that can mean the difference between tyranny or freedom, one can say with all sincerity that such efforts do not hold a candle to the real-life activities of these NRA Grassroots volunteers. Perhaps the only real way that gratitude can be expressed is to support them in their efforts, and contribute towards Project Boresnake.

After all, it is for the troops. Donate today.

Turnabout Is Fair Play?:

Brad Wilmouth is reporting over at NewsBusters.org about the latest mental breakdown-cum-arrogant-pontification by MSNBC's own Keith Olbermann.

In what appears to be turning into an hourly occurrence ( MoveOn.org operatives are rumored to have labeled Olbermann "Old Faithful" in recent missives), Olbermann expresses an opinion that, in his best "legal" judgment, that Justice Scalia and the rest of the Heller majority "got it wrong" in their ruling in June of 2008.

What is more, Olbermann calls to task the efforts (apparently commercial, if the folks at Mother Jones are to be believed) of one Mary Lou Sapone. It seems that Ms. Sapone braved extensive exposure to gun control fanatics over a number of years, went to their meetings and served on their committees, only to "pass the word" on in a kind of "friendly" heads up as to the activities of those trying to deprive the citizenry of the only real civil liberty that guarantees all the others in the Bill of Rights.

Of course, Gun Control Inc. is totally wigged out that such a thing could happen to them. After all, it's not like they have not encouraged Federal and State police officials to run entrapment schemes in the parking lots at lawfully held gun shows. Or had the underage sons and daughters of Million Mom's members try to illegally purchase handgun ammunition from Los Angeles area gun stores (in concert with the kind of LAPD "monitoring activities" that would otherwise result in an ACLU lawsuit were it any other issue). Or even supported the efforts of "public health" academics who falsely represented themselves to Federal Firearms Licensees as to the "reason" for purchase inquiries over the telephone (Part and parcel of a "straw purchase study", it seems.).

Other aspects of the Olbermann Eruption include the continued misuse of firearms statistics (as if the 18,000+ folks annually who use a firearm to commit suicide are not to going to find some other means to accomplish their goal) and the propagation of the idea that the only safe society permissible is a disarmed one (Yeah, tell that to England.).

Still, one can take comfort that Olbermann and MSNBC remain firmly ensconced in third place (network-wise) in the cable ratings (Shall we say third, with a bullet?). With luck, they will go the same way as the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, McClatchey, and a host of other Heroes of Yellow Journalism who would prefer to go broke rather than report the news in a fair and balanced manner. Requiscat in Pace.

And to the folks at Brady Bunch Central, a little advice- Turnabout Is Fair Play, especially when one's Civil Liberties are on the line.

                                                - Content from Lucianne.com

                                - Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Welt)

Let Them Use Duracells:

Zachary Coile writes at the San Francisco Chronicle that Speaker-For-The-Brain-Dead Nancy Pelosi is single-handedly blocking any vote that would allow for drilling for oil off of the coasts of the United States.

Now, it's not like the Diminutive Dominatrix can somehow suspend the Laws of Supply and Demand, Plunk Her Magic Twanger and magically provide some new source of energy that will somehow pass muster with the Sierra Club (A tall order...).

And it's not like if she was Lois Capps, whose 23rd District contains some of the wealthiest beach front (and cliff-top) estates in the Santa Barbara Channel (NIMBY is surely the magic word here). After all, Lois' constituents can afford $ 5 Supreme for their Ferrari's.

And it's also not like she was against unionized oil worker jobs (Heaven Forbid!) and the kinds of domestic job growth that could be seen from oil development.

Rather, Lady Nancy feels apparently that she has to save the world from 20th Century technology (and all the life-extending knowledge that goes with it) simply because she has been hanging out with Algore a bit too much. By default, that means that Lady Pelosi is against jobs and the economy, simply because one does not have economic activity beyond that of Ethiopia without industry, power, and the transportation to get goods and services to far off customers.

Perhaps Lady Pelosi will meet the same fate of one Maria Antonia von Habsburg-Lothringen, once folks finally figure out that Pelosi is trying to force orbitally-high gasoline prices so that stratospheric hybrid-electric prices look good by comparison. Or that Pelosi is trying to swap a First World Economic Order for a Third World Economic Order. But until that time comes to pass, it looks like we are stuck with her.
